Joanne (Brown) Jones Obituary – Akron Beacon Journal

Joanne (Brown) Jones was called by her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the age of 85.

She was born on February 17, 1937 in Barberton to her parents, Anna (Gluhman) Brown and William Brown. His family included siblings, Carole Ezell-Bell (deceased), Judith Wolf and William Brown (Minnesota).

Joanne worked at BF Goodrich as a secretary in industrial products and the following year (1955) she married her high school sweetheart, Keith Jones, and they started their family, son Keith Alan, identical twin daughters, Kimberly and Karen, and her youngest daughter, Kathleen.

Over the years, Joanne has also been employed at BF Goodrich Aerospace (Secretary to Plant Manager) and Akron City Hospital/Summa Health System (CEO – Administrative Assistant).

His activities throughout his life were many (sewing, handicrafts, perennial flower gardening, flower arranging, tennis, bowling and playing bridge). She was a member of community organizations (such as the Akron Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, past president of the Crescent Club – a community service organization – and the Loyal Oak Garden Club).

Joanne and Keith were members of St. Augustine’s Church in Barberton and were active as Eucharistic ministers and members of Holy Hour worship.

Her husband Keith passed away on September 28, 2019. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage. They enjoyed spending their time together and were interested in so many activities; especially their love of ballroom dancing. (They realized the importance of friendships!)

Joanne was predeceased by her parents; brother-in-law, Jérôme Wolf, his sister Carole; her husband Keith and their 3 daughters, who were born with cystic fibrosis. The Joneses have continued to support the battle to defeat this disease, as well as supporting the Children’s Hospital (Cystic Fibrosis Center and Palliative Care with their endowment fund on behalf of our daughters).

In addition to her son, Keith, Joanne leaves behind nieces, Stephanie Ezell, Sandra Mollohan, Jacqueline Wolf and Katrina Kneeskern; nephews, Jeffrey, Jon and James Wolf.

Joanne was interred with her husband and daughters at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
