Kohler Co. to build manufacturing facility in Phoenix area

A powerhouse of products for the kitchen and bathroom Kohler Co. starts with a plumbing manufacturing plant with warehouse and offices in Casa Grande, Arizona.

The property will total approximately 1 million square feet, with room on the 216-acre greenfield site for future expansion. The new development will create more than 400 new full-time jobs, according to the Arizona Commerce Authority, an economic development organization.

Casa Grande is along I-10 in Pinal County, Arizona, not quite halfway from Phoenix to Tucson.

No monetary value of the project has been disclosed.

Kohler will use the property as a manufacturing plant and distribution center for its Sterling Vikrell bath and shower accessories, such as sinks, tubs and tub surrounds. Sterling Vikrell is a mid-priced brand of fiberglass and polycomposite fixtures from Kohler.

The facility will incorporate sustainability measures aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, water consumption and solid waste, and several alternative energy strategies are also being evaluated.

The facility is expected to be operational by August 2023.

Based in Kohler, Wisconsin, Kohler Co. was founded in 1873 and remains privately held. Worldwide, it has more than 50 manufacturing sites and more than 40,000 employees.

A warm market

According to a report from the fourth quarter of CBRE.

Net leasable space increased by nearly 15 million square feet in 2020, bringing Metro inventory to 355 million square feet. This compares to 21.4 million square feet of net absorption just in the fourth quarter.

The Southeast Valley submarket also had a strong 2021. The overall vacancy rate was just 3.3% and the average asking rent was $1.01 per square foot, too. according to CBRE.
