The Maui Economic Development Council is presenting a free online webinar on Wednesday, November 10, exploring funding opportunities still available for Maui County small businesses on the road to recovery.
The webinar is part of the COVID-19 Business Support Series where business owners can access valuable information on resources provided due to COVID-19.
“With the many grants, loans and aids available for small businesses, it can be difficult to know which one is the right one to apply for,” said Frank De Rego, Jr., director of business development projects at MEDB. âIn addition, it is important to know whether the request for an application will potentially conflict with obtaining another grant or source of funds. ”
The discussion will be chaired by Gary Albitz, Business Consultant with MEDB, who has helped many one-on-one companies over the past year. Joining him will be Wayne Wong, Director, Hawaii Small Business Development Center, and David Daly, Director of Business Development, Maui Economic Opportunity.
Wayne Wong will share details and answer questions about the new round of the Economic Disaster Lending Program. This loan comes directly from the SBA at low interest rate and long term. This program aims to help small businesses overcome the effects of the pandemic by providing working capital to cover operating expenses.
David Daly will speak about MEO’s micro-agriculture grants in Maui to operate farms in Maui, MolokaÊ»i and LÄnaÊ»i. Grant funds are available to increase the yield capacity and production of farms; improving safety and health practices; business acumen; and more.
âMEDB’s Business Assistance Program has helped Maui’s small business community rebuild with resilience in mind,â said De Rego. Jr. âCollaboration with the county’s other business support programs, such as SBDC and MEO, helps us deliver the most relevant and actionable information about the resources available. ”
The webinar discussion will include time for questions. Registration is free and a recording will be made available to those who register should they be unable to attend the meeting live.
