CBRE announces three promotions in Colorado
CBRE has announced that three professionals from its Colorado offices have earned honorary title promotions.
Based in Denver, Dan Burk was promoted to first vice-president. Mr. Burke specializes in healthcare real estate transactions and medical office buildings in the Denver metro area and the Colorado Front Range. He has over two decades of experience in healthcare-specific development, design and construction, rental and sales services. Last month, Mr. Burke was named one of the top health influencers of 2021 by GlobeSt.
Pete Kelly is also promoted to senior vice president. Mr. Kelly is based in CBRE’s Fort Collins office and focuses on office and land transactions in Northern Colorado, including investment sales, leasing and occupant representation. Mr. Kelly is a Certified Fellow in Commercial Investment (CCIM) and a Fellow of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR). In 2019, Mr. Kelly was named a top investment producer by the Northern Colorado Commercial Association of Realtors.
Monica Wiley is promoted to vice president. Based in Denver, Ms. Wiley is with CBRE Capital Markets, specializing in the sale of office properties in the Denver metro area. Its main focus is office investments and property sales to owner-users up to and including $25 million, primarily aimed at private equity groups and investors. Ms. Wiley is a Certified Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Professional (LEED AP).
Livable Cities Studio Expands Capabilities with New Landscape Architect
Livable Cities Studio, an urban design and landscape architecture studio committed to building cities for lived experiences that celebrate social connection and inclusivity, is expanding its Denver-based team with the addition of a new landscape architect . Melanie Schroeder’s national and international experience in landscape architecture spans the public and private sectors, including streetscapes, parks and playgrounds.

Kumar & Associates, Inc. (K+A) announced that three of its engineers have passed the professional engineer exam to receive their license for the State of Colorado in 2021. Congratulations to James Parsons, Alan Yelton and Justin Cupich !
James Parson has been with K+A for over three years, providing technical support to our Glenwood Springs office and projects throughout much of western Colorado. James’ responsibilities include a wide range of geotechnical engineering such as deep pile or pillar foundations, underground injection and steep slopes in mountainous terrain and valley bottoms. James also works closely with senior engineering staff and assists construction oversight services throughout project completion. He recently completed the Fundamentals of Professional Practice (FOPP), specifically designed for geotechnical professionals, ranking in the top 5% of his class, furthering his professional expertise and career.
Alan (Al) Yelton has around seven years of experience in geotechnical engineering, the last 5 of which with K+A at Staff and Senior Staff levels. Al is an integral part of our geotechnical engineering team that manages a wide variety of projects ranging from multi-unit residential, education, infrastructure, commercial and industrial. Al also provides on-site wastewater treatment system (OWTS) design expertise, administrative support to our field exploration services, and mentorship to our field and junior engineers. Passing the PE exam is confirmation of his rapid growth as a consulting engineer and a springboard to further his career at K+A.
Justin Cupich has been with K+A for over seven years and comes to us with experience in building materials testing. For the first two years at K+A, Justin helped manage our soil lab in Denver before moving into geotechnical engineering just over five years ago as a personal-level engineer and then senior manager.
Justin handles a wide variety of geotechnical engineering projects ranging from transportation, low-rise and high-rise multi-unit residential buildings, to commercial and industrial infrastructure. Justin is K+A’s lead for our drop weight deflectometer testing services as well as the ME pavement design approach and is our resident engineering advisor regarding ASTM, AASHTO and CDOT lab test procedures . Passing the PE exam is confirmation of his rapid growth as a consulting engineer and a springboard to further his career at K+A.
JVA’s Andrew Sparn Joins Colorado Economic Development Commission
JVA, Inc. announced that Andrew Sparn, PE, has been appointed to the Colorado Economic Development Commission (EDC) by the Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives. EDC develops incentive packages to help with business expansion and business relocations to create jobs across the state.
Andrew is a project manager and senior partner at JVA, Inc. and has been with the company since 2011. Andrew specializes in water and wastewater treatment, utility infrastructure planning, design, permits, construction administration and financing. Andrew established JVA’s Denver office in 2015 and is the regional manager of a growing office. Andrew’s mission is to promote economic opportunity and help disadvantaged communities achieve high priority projects while protecting the environment.
