Rail News: Rail Industry Trends

MxV rail is the new name for Transportation Technology Center Inc. (TTCI), which conducts rail research, testing and training in Pueblo, Colorado.

The new name was announced yesterday during the Association of American Railroads‘ (AAR) Annual Research Review, attended by over 325 rail professionals from around the world to learn about progress under the industry-sponsored Strategic Research Initiatives (SRI) program.

A subsidiary of the AAR, MxV Rail employs more than 300 people, including 110 mechanical, civil, industrial and electrical engineers and metallurgists, to advance scientific research on railways. He will continue to lead the industry-wide SRI program, MxV Rail officials said in a press release.

MxV Rail will move its operations from its longtime location at the Pueblo Transportation Technology Center to facilities currently under construction at the PuebloPlex facility in Pueblo County. The new campus will include a high tonnage loop for accelerated service testing, curve negotiation loops, and additional track infrastructure needed to support AAR certification testing. The site will be the epicenter of the company’s research, testing and training services.

The name MxV Rail is based on the formula for momentum: mass x velocity. It speaks to the organization’s “dedication to creating the momentum needed to move our industry forward,” said Kari Gonzales, President and CEO of MxV Rail.

“Our experts are guided by the principles of rigor, innovation, collaboration and real-world applicability that are essential to help solve the industry’s most pressing challenges,” she said.
