Swoop Aero, Astral Aviation and Skyports Collaborate for Drone Logistics Network in Kenya

Swoop Aero has partnered with Astral Aviation’s drone services business and drone operations partner Skyports to develop a drone logistics network in Kenya. Swoop Aero’s experience in operating drone logistics networks in seven countries, combined with its proprietary technology platform, will be used to transport drugs, vaccines and medical samples between healthcare facilities and patients in need across Kenya, starting with last mile delivery by the end of 2022.

These activities are a first for the region, as they include the first drone operation beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flight and demonstration approvals, which were launched in close collaboration with the Authority. Swoop Aero will deploy all of its technology infrastructure and drone logistics experience into the latter venture, with local Kenyan experts Astral Aerial Solutions operating the network in close collaboration with drone infrastructure provider Skyports, to rapidly improve access to routine and emergency medicine, vaccines and pathology. Astral Aerial Solutions, a Kenya-based drone operator, provides local aviation knowledge history and will offer a world-class healthcare solution to first and last mile customers in partnership with the premier logistics hub integrated drone from Swoop Aero.

The integration of drones into the Kenyan health system through this partnership presents a significant opportunity to improve access to healthcare across Kenya, with the capacity to deliver scalable and sustainable services and supplies. With initial operations focused specifically on medical supplies and the healthcare industry, Swoop Aero will be developing additional applications for drone logistics across the country in the coming months.

The addition of the Kite™ aircraft to Swoop Aero’s technology platform supports real-time tracking, capture and analysis, and will further enable additional cross-industry functionality including aerial mapping and surveillance , search and rescue capabilities, and emergency response and disaster management.
